According to a 2020 feasibility study, the areas of highest demand for workforce training in McKenzie County include:

The Bakken Area Skills Center (BASC) provides hands-on technical classes for high school students. The facility will also be able to be used for post-secondary training and education for in-demand skills of our region's employers. Review our FAQ.

Over half of our area graduating seniors do not go on directly to a 4-year college. The BASC provides an opportunity to train more “home-grown” employees—providing value to both our residents and our local employers. The coursework offered will be based on the area of workforce training that are found to be in highest demand and the ability to find the necessary instructors.
